The American Farmer
A short documentary film exploring the emergence of urban farming in Detroit, Michigan. Greg Willerer gives us an inside look at his new business venture, converting 2 acres of unused land into a profitable, organic vegetable farm. Through work at farmers markets and direct sales to local restaurants, Greg is putting his activism to work employing people from his neighborhood and providing a service to those seeking locally grown, fresh produce.
Featuring historical and technical insights from Dr. Craig Wilkins, Professor of Architecture, Urban Design and Community Development at the University of Michigan and an interview with Dan Carmody, President of Eastern Market Corporation, the oldest outdoor farmer’s market in the United States.
